John A. Moss, D.O., FACOS, DFACOS
Dr. Moss received his osteopathic medicine degree from Nova-Southeastern University in 1994. He then went on to complete a General Surgery residency, followed by a Vascular Surgery residency through Michigan State University. Dr. Moss is a double board certified General and Vascular Surgeon and is currently the Section Chief for General and Vascular Surgery for all four hospitals in the Lee Health system. He has special interests in Endovascular (minimally invasive) Vascular surgery including, AAA, Peripheral Arterial Disease and Carotid Stenting. Prior to starting with Surgical Specialists, he was employed by Lee Physician Group for over 13 years here in Ft Myers. Before then, he was in private practice in Mount Clemens, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit. There he served as the Assistant Program Director for the General Surgery Residency program as well as eventually being named Chairman of the Department of Surgery. Throughout his career he has taught medical students, interns, general surgery residents and vascular surgery fellows.
He still hosts medical students regularly on his service from Nova-Southeastern University and Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences.
Dr. Moss has been an oral examiner for Osteopathic Vascular Surgery boards since 2003. More recently he was named to the Bureau of Examiners, Vascular Surgery Division, for the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery in 2012. This is a small group of surgeons who write the actual board exams, as well as administer these exams each fall. Dr. Moss is very proud to have been given the honor to be selected as one of only 5 surgeons from throughout the nation to sit on this board.
Dr. Moss has lived in Ft Myers with his wife and daughter since 2006. He enjoys golfing, boating and traveling with his family.
